Some new covers

November 7th, 2008

We had a little meeting last Wednesday, and we’ve decided to work on some now covers for inclusion into our (hopefully more foot-tapping) live set. They are:

Brass In Pocket - The Pretenders
Echo Beach - Martha and the Muffins
Dancing in the Moonlight - Thin Lizzy
All Day and All of the Night - The Kinks
I Saw Her Standing There - The Beatles
I Kissed a Girl - Katie Perry

November update

November 3rd, 2008

So we had a great gig. Footage is at http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=47A6E6474D7418C0

And we’ve settled for Fearful Symmetry as the EP title. Our good friend Máire is making us some album art.

Ep title Hmmmm…..

October 19th, 2008

We’re still trying to think up a title for the EP.  Some say “Fearful Symmetry”, others say Symmetry.

If you have any thoughts then please let us know via eptitle@shedmusicuk.com

New EP nearly ready

October 4th, 2008

We’ve mixed our five songs now. They’re ready to be streamed or downloaded at http://shedmusicuk.com/songs.htm.

We’re still deciding on an album title, and we’re going to have our favourite artist, Máire McSorely design its cover.

Please feel free to give us feedback on what you think of the new sound.

September update

September 25th, 2008

It’s been a while since the last update, but we have been rehearsing every week since our last show.

We have a new original song (Is This How We Celebrate Our Love) and we’re working on some new songs for our October gig. They are The One I Love by REM, Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division, Live Forever by Oasis and Ironic by Alanis Morissette.

We’ve also nearly finished recording some new songs, they’re Aero/Starplane, Rain It Down, Story of My Life and We’ve Got Time. They’re sounding great, and we’ll be putting them out soon.

In the meantime, we’re starting to look for some more dates to gig, so if you have any ideas then please get in touch simon (at) windisch.co.uk.

The 50th Birthday gig

July 7th, 2008

We had a bit of a ropey time with the sound. Here are the videos…

Hot harmonies

June 10th, 2008

Back to No Machine on a hot and sticky evening, we assembled nearly in our entirety to practise the songs again with both of our singers. It’s sounding good, but we need to work on the harmonies. We also need to work on the setlist for our next gig: our drummer’s birthday party.

Living Forever

June 5th, 2008

After some extreme diary problems, four of us managed to get together in the original shed. It felt good after two weeks off.

We practised some harmonies on We’ve Got Time, Set Free and Rain It Down, ran through Going Away a few times, and got stuck into a new cover, Live Forever by Oasis.

The Bridge House gig

May 23rd, 2008

Well, not a bad gig: we made a few mistakes but I think that we all enjoyed it.

Harmony Central

May 21st, 2008

Our singer, Carol has returned from holiday and we spent the evening running through the set four times getting the harmonies right, and working out who sings which part.

It’s fun but tiring. I must have played Jane by Jefferson Airplane/Starship more than 100 times.

We’ll be recording Friday’s gig, so hopefully something will be available from this blog.
